Install Instructions

Please see our requirements page for full details about what services need to be enabled on your web server to install this software.

You will require:

1. An account at Cheats Database. Its free, click here to get one
2. The Cheats Database Client download, this can be downloaded from within your user area, if you are already logged in click here to get it
3. Some space on a server, matching our requirements
4. Your domain should be added to CheatsDatabase, which will generate a key which you can get by viewing your website within your user area

Method:

1. Open the zip file with the client and extract all the files to whatever location you would like the website to reside in, ie if you extract this website to http://www.domain.com/cheats/ that is what will prefix all the pages of your website
2. If you are on linux you will need to CHMOD the cache directory to at least 666, this directory is found at /path/to/your/setup/data/cache/
3. Modify the config.inc.php
   1. Add your website Key, find the line:
      
      $aConfig[‘website_key’] = ‘’;
      
      Now between the ‘’ add your key from CheatsDatabase.com for example if your key was “abc123” then your updated line would look similar to:
      
      $aConfig[‘website_key’] = ‘abc123’;
   2. Does your website allow for mod_rewrite? Ie can your URLs be made more SEO friendly via using standard apache protocol, some people may refer to this as .htaccess?
      1. Yes, you don’t need to do anything this is the default setup
      2. No, your URLs will not be able to look “pretty” however your website can still work when your host has disabled modrewrite or you are on a non-rewrite supporting web server by changing the line:
         
         $aConfig['use_htaccess'] = 1;
         
         To
         $aConfig['use_htaccess'] = 0;
   3. That is all the required changes in this file, however you will probably want to alter either of the below settings, these will alter the title of your website and add a prefix or an affix to the website, the syntax of these should follow similar to the website_key change required.
      1. $aConfig['site_title_append'] = ' - My site Name';
      2. $aConfig['site_title_prepend'] = '';
